Meet Emily. This is Emily at Saturday night’s dance, which is the time to bring out your fanciest duds.
Not much beats the satisfaction of a good swirly skirt, but a pair of well-fitted trousers is a joy to behold. What I particularly like about Emily’s outfit is the combination and balance between the wide leg trousers and the wrap top. The fluttery sleeves on the top are reminiscent of a swirly skirt, without having to wear bloomers. Genius. The wrap top’s colors don’t show up all that well in the iPhone photos, but the top has gorgeous vibrant colors. Both the top and trousers are from Heyday Vintage.
While I’ve been mulling about trying out a vintage style for longer than I care to admit, Emily tells me that she wears victory rolls on a regular basis. Wow. Clearly, I need to get over my inertia because I want cool vintage pin-up girl hair too.
Check out this style the back, isn’t it darling? The flowers are an attractive touch and the selection of the sunflower is a pleasant twist on traditional options. These twisty rolls are easier to execute than victory rolls, especially important when you can’t see what you’re doing. For all you’d ever want to know about vintage
hair and more, check out Bobby Pin Blog by Lauren and her book Vintage Hairstyling: Retro Styles with Step by Step Techniques. The level of detail is fantastic and so helpful.
Thanks for being willing to star on Lindy Wardrobe, Emily! I hope to see you at PittStop again next year.
